K.I.W.I. programs are all about “learning without learning”. What we provide is nature experience programming that will deeply impact your students and send them off on a journey of discovery about the things they will see, hear, feel and experience while at K.I.W.I.

By creating enthusiasm, and focusing attention while providing a direct experience with nature, a day at K.I.W.I. will create opportunities for your students to be inspired by the natural environment and to share their experiences.

K.I.W.I. Weather Policy

K.I.W.I. programs are conducted entirely outdoors and will proceed rain, snow or shine. Please be sure to dress your child appropriately for the weather as we will be outdoors for all activities. A wise man once said: “There is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing.”

In the case of severe inclement weather such as heavy rain, thunderstorms & lightning, snowstorms or high winds over 45 km per hour, we will advise of any session cancellations. Adventures cancelled due to extreme weather will be rescheduled where possible.

Please remember to check the daily weather forecast, pop your head outside your door and dress your child appropriately. If you have any questions please contact us.

Weather is our friend…there is no need to fear:-)

Let’s Play Safe

Rouge Park is a a safe and fun place to visit. To ensure that your child has the best experience possible, please consider the following tips:

Dress for the Weather: Please remind parents to check the forecast for the day and dress children appropriately. All students should be wearing a hat, and appropriate footwear.

Insect Repellant: Mosquitoes and ticks will be active in the park. All participants should be wearing effective insect repellant.

Be “Tick Smart”

Inspect all of your child’s skin and clothing at the conclusion of each trip in the Rouge for any ticks that may be present. If you discover a tick remove it immediately

Consider wearing long-sleeved shirts and long pants while in the park.

More information on ticks is available here

Poison Ivy

Some plants aren’t as friendly as others, and Poison ivy is one of them! Poison ivy can be found in the park, and the old adage of “leaves of three, let it be”, is a wise tip to avoid coming in contact with this tricky plant.
